Colbert County completed the 2016 season with a 9-3 record. With their 6-1 region record and a second place finish in Class 3A region eight, the Indians earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Colbert County reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to Piedmont by a score of 38-21. Since 2010, Colbert County has gone a combined 54-32. Their 63.0% winning percentage ranks 16th in Class 3A over the past seven seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Colbert County has gone a combined 236-102. Their 70.0% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 3A and 29th in the AHSAA. The Indians have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time. Dale Jeffreys retires from the sidelines after twenty seasons as a head coach. His teams won 160 games and twenty-one playoff games. His five seasons at Colbert County produced a 46-19 record while the team won ten playoff games. He also served as the head coach at Red Bay for fifteen years where his teams went a combined 114-59. Brett Mask takes over the prestigious football program at Colbert County. The son of long time coach Steve Mask, he spent the past four seasons as an assistant coach at Decatur. He has also been an assistant coach at Benjamin Russell, Buckhorn and Florence. The Colbert County Indians will play in Class 3A region eight during the 2017 season. The Indians should be in contention for a playoff spot in region eight this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game. The Indians open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Sheffield on Friday, September 1 at Walton R. Wright Stadium. Last year the Sheffield Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in second place in Class 2A region eight. The Bulldogs lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to LaFayette by a score of 40-34. Colbert County and Sheffield have met a total of 73 times on the football field. The Indians have a 47-23-3 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2016 with Sheffield winning by a score of 33-23. Colbert County returns 3A All-State Senior defensive lineman Jetez Hamilton.
